Introduction to VAR
VAR was first introduced in 2016 in a friendly between France and Italy alongside a professional match between Ajax and Willem II. After that was deemed a success it was announced that from the start of the 2017/18 season, it would be used in Germany and Italy's top leagues. 2018/19 then saw it introduced in the Champions League and the Spanish and French first divisions, before in 2019/20 the illustrious premier league had it added.
It was also used in the two most recent World Cups in 2018 and 2022 but in a slightly different format which i will touch on later.
P.S make sure you are paying attention there will be a few questions to quiz you on what you have taken on board during this documentary!
